I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I graduated from San Diego State University with a dual major in Sociology and Psychology. After working with abused children for several years, I went back to school for my Elementary Education credential. After 21 years of teaching, I still love what I do and look forward to days full of surprises! Twenty of my 21 years have been in second and third grade.
I moved to North Carolina in 2007. I worked for a year and a half at North Ridge Elementary, then gave birth to my son. I decided to take a leave of absence to stay at home with my kids. I returned to teaching in 2010 when I accepted a 5th grade position at Wiley. In 2017, I transferred to York.
I have two beautiful children. My daughter, Lily, is 16 and a rising junior at Enloe where she is a member of the Medical and Bioscience Academy. She is also a talented artist and plays violin. She makes me proud every day! My son, Jackson, is almost 13 and is in 6th grade. He was diagnosed with autism in December 2010. He was in special ed. up until second grade when he was finally moved into a regular classroom and he's doing very well! He has truly been my inspiration. He has taught me more about life in his 12 years than I have learned in all of mine! Jackson loves karate, basketball, and baseball.
In my free time I love to read, draw, scrapbook, and dabble in photography. I also love to write, and would someday like to write a children's book.
